President & CEO - Andrew McCarthy, B.Sc., MBA

Mr. McCarthy has over 20 years experience in permitting, regulatory, and international trade matters pertaining to mining, exploration and real estate development projects. He is a successful entrepreneur who has played a pivotal role in advancing several public and private companies from conception to operational status. Mr. McCarthy most recently held the title of President and CEO with West Cirque Resources Ltd. (WCQ:TSX.V); A company which he helped grow from a Capital Pool Corporation (CPC) to an advanced stage exploration company with an exceptional portfolio of mineral properties in BC and Nevada. Mr. McCarthy holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, Nova Scotia and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) from Memorial University, Newfoundland.


CFO - Matthew Hamilton, B.Sc., MF

Mr. Hamilton has been a managing partner at Avail Capital Partners Inc. since October 2007, is President and CEO of Arriba Resources Inc., and is Vice President of Oakmont Capital Corp. (OMK.P). He is experienced in both finance and natural resource management, working primarily in the public market place as an investment banker and in a corporate communications capacity. Mr. Hamilton is a successful entrepreneur who has been instrumental in taking several private companies public via self-filing, RTO and IPO transactions that have gone on to raise over $100 million.


Operations Manager - Tyrone Thacker

Mr. Thacker has 17 years experience in the oil and gas industry. He has supervised well drilling operations and logistics management for a number of major and mid tier oil and gas producers including Halliburton Energy Services, Sonic Energy services and Barlon Engineering. Mr Thacker specializes in all aspects of underbalanced, managed pressure air, and conventional drilling; technical skills which were acquired through years of field work and a history of advancement from ruff neck and driller to operator and senior supervisor. Mr Thacker’s familiarity with domestic and foreign drilling environments will be especially beneficial to Emperor Oil as the company continues to advance a diverse portfolio of international projects.

Director - Mark Bloom, BA, MA

Mr. Bloom is a successful international financier and entrepreneur with over 17 years of experience in the financial markets. He is an expert in alternative investment strategies, hedge funds, commodities markets, CTAs and global investments. Mr. Bloom was one of the founding partners of FX Asia Securities, one of Japan's leading Forex and Securities companies which was later sold to Man Financial Group. He is the founder of a number of asset management companies specializing in mergers and acquisitions ("M&A") consulting, capital raising for private companies, and financial product structuring. He has successfully raised and managed over US$500 million from clients across the Asia region. A fluent speaker of Japanese, Mr. Bloom has authored several books on hedge funds and finance in Japan, and remains a popular speaker there. He runs a popular commodities online newsletter and publishes articles in several Japanese publications. He currently is a director of a number of resource companies including Andover Ventures and Arriba Resources. Mr. Bloom has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Business Studies and Economics from Greenwich University in England, and a Research Masters in Economics from Tokyo University.


Director - Mr John G.F. McLeod, P.Eng

Mr. McLeod is a Professional Engineer with 40 years resource extraction experience in the upstream oil and gas industry. Throughout his career he has held a variety of upper management and board titles including Chief Engineer with Amoco Canada, VP Operations with Pengrowth Gas Company, Director with Heritage Oil and CEO of Canoro Resources. Mr. McLeod is a skilled negotiator who has a keen understanding of international operating procedures; having served as President and CEO of Arakis Energy Corp. (Sudan) and Rally Energy Corp. (Egypt and Pakistan). Mr. McLeod achieved a B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick and is a Past-President of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta.


Advisory Board

Advisor - Ian Sosso, MSc.

Mr. Sosso is the founder and managing partner of Monte Carlo Capital, a firm focused on investment in small, private equity transactions in the real estate and commodities sector in Asia. Before starting Monte Carlo Capital in 2009, he was the Regional Managing Director and Head of Capital Markets in Asia for Commerzbank. Mr. Sosso started his financial career in 1993. Since that time he has worked in Paris, London, Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong with HSBC, UBS, JPMorgan and most recently with Commerzbank. During his investment banking career, Mr. Sosso's main area of expertise was to structure derivatives transactions across asset classes. He has done work in most Asian countries, and has advised a broad range of clients ranging from hedge funds to governments, large corporations and private banks. At Commerzbank, Mr. Sosso managed all capital markets activities in Asia; including Equity Derivatives, Credit, Precious Metals, Foreign Exchange, Debt Capital Markets, as well as the Treasuries of HK, Singapore and Shanghai. Mr. Sosso is a citizen of the Principality of Monaco and holds a MSc. in Finance from the London School of Economics (LSE).


Advisor - Desmond Balakrishnan BA, LLB

Desmond Balakrishnan has been a Partner of McMillan LLP since 2004 and is a member of the firm’s Corporate Finance/Securities Law Group. Mr. Balakrishnan’s current areas of focus include mergers, acquisitions, listed company maintenance, international public listings, gaming and entertainment law. He was called to the British Columbia Bar in May 1997and is a Member of the Vancouver Bar Association and the Canadian Bar Association. Mr. Balakrishnan received a BA in April 1994, CLA from Simon Fraser University and an LLB from University of Alberta in August, 1997. Mr. Balakrishnan has served in a variety of positions with a number of public companies in the oil and gas sector including; Petro Basin Energy Corp, Big Sky Petroleum Corporation, Aroway Energy Inc. and Probe Resources Ltd. He has also been the recipient of several notable awards including: “Business in Vancouver's Top 40 Under 40”, “Lexpert Rising Star – Top lawyers under 40” and “Lexpert’s Lawyer to Watch”.
